Academic employee/Special Consultant in Desler Group at Department of Biomedical Sciences

Københavns Universitet (KU)

We are looking for a highly motivated and independent Project Managerto support our efforts in Molecular Ageingto commence 1 January 2025.

Our group and research
The Desler Group is a newly started research group counting 10 group members. We investigate aging at the molecular level and its link to age-related diseases. Our goal is to unveil novel molecular mechanisms in aging, discover robust biomarkers for age-related diseases, and identify potential therapeutic targets.

This project is part of an EU Horizon funded research project and splits between 9 partners across Europe. The project is highly interdisciplinary and multifaceted and lead by Claus Desler as Project Coordinator.

Project description
In this project we aim to understand and explain the mechanistic link between the post-acute phase (PAP) of COVID-19 and risk of noncommunicable diseases. More specifically, we aim to determine the clinical and biological mechanisms behind the increased risk of reduced organ function in pulmonary, cardiovascular, and renal systems associated with the PAP of COVID-19. This is conducted through a large-scale cohort analysis across Europe, utilizing data from over 6 million individuals, to identify clinical, genomic, and socioeconomic risk factors contributing to NCDs post-COVID. Our goal is to develop predictive biomarkers to forecast the impact of SARS-CoV-2 variants on NCD risk in both vaccinated and unvaccinated individuals. Our group is part of a large international consortium consisting of 9 partners from across Europe.
