Category Manager, Indirect Procurement

Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners

Do you want to join a global leader in the green energy transition? If so, Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP) is the perfect place for you!

CIP is on an exciting growth journey since its inception in 2012. Every year, CIP is expanding with new international offices (currently 12 globally), new funds to manage, and new green energy assets (offshore/onshore wind parks, solar farms, bioenergy plants, etc.).

The Team
Indirect Procurement is a relatively new function at CIP, but is a strategic priority for the leadership to ensure scalable growth by:

  • Managing complexity through consolidation of requirements and vendors across CIP entities and funds
  • Supporting the business via contracting of long-term supply agreements
  • Managing costs through commercial levers (e.g. tendering, negotiations), professionalizing spend management (e.g. policy and process implementation) and elevating vendor performance (e.g. active SRM, supplier segmentation).

Impact is not only about reducing costs but delivering value as a business partner to the organization. Indirect Procurement is imperative in driving the next phase of CIP’s growth, which needs to focus on operational efficiency and scaling the business cost-effectively.

As a new function entering the build phase, Indirect Procurement has a two-pronged approach which focuses on delivering value through execution and professionalizing for the future.

    • Execution – Strategically control the major spend categories and provide operational support to the business by enabling supply agreements
    • Professionalization – Implement the systems, processes and tools which enable cost transparency, compliance and supplier risk management

    The Role
Considering the Indirect Procurement function is still on a journey, the responsibilities will grow over time. However, to begin with the following key responsibilities will be allocated:
    • Category Strategy development and implementation for IT & Professional Services in collaboration with IT and Finance functions
    • Management of all phases of contract execution (requirements identification with stakeholders, RFP preparation and management, negotiations and contract finalization) for various services across indirect categories
    • Negotiation support/sparring with colleagues and providing contract reviews/feedback
    • Supplier performance management
    • Spend mapping, impact tracking and reporting, policy creation and rollout, project pipeline management
    • Building of the Indirect Procurement Toolbox – sourcing and category management templates, Sharepoint support site; codifying internal processes.

You will report to the Global Head of Indirect Procurement in CIP and develop and execute the long-term strategy for Indirect Procurement together.

    You
The ideal candidate has a relevant academic education – e.g., within Business, Economics, IT, Data Science or Engineering and a minimum of 4 years of Indirect Procurement experience. This includes experience with structured sourcing activities and Category Strategy development from a large company with a well-established Indirect Procurement function which has provided you with an understanding of the tools, processes and systems needed for best-in-class Indirect Procurement.

You have experience with negotiating SaaS products and comprehensive understanding of the implementation process, as well as adept project management skills and love for solving complex problems. Your functional expertise allows you to provide stand-alone negotiation support to colleagues and end-to-end manage the category strategy development and implementation process. You have been a part of developing and advancing procurement strategies and have a solid understanding of where, why and how Indirect Procurement can add value to an organization.
