Senior Country Engagement Manager - Middle East and Eastern Europe

We a looking for a new colleague and Senior Country Engagement Manager to join our Middle East and Eastern Europe team. Do you have experience from working with/ in the Middle East and are you looking for a challenging role where you can put your extensive experience with international project cycle management, aid programming and proposal writing to work? Are you selfdriven, a strong communicator and do you thrive managing projects and donor contracts in collaboration with colleagues inside and outside Denmark? Are you in your element juggling multiple activities, ensuring quality control and building strong, collaborative relationships - all while maintaining a clear oversight of it all? YOU WILL
... be joining a team of 5-6 colleagues and you will manage and develop Save the Children Denmark's (SCD) relations with selected Save the Children country offices (CO) with countless opportunities for networking and collaboration and sparring with colleagues in the team, from the department and from across the Save the Children movement. We work in Yemen, Syria, Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon, the Occupied Palestinian Territories, Egypt, Ukraine, Romania and Poland.

There will be travel of up to a maximum of six weeks annually, mainly to the Middle East. Travel plans are generally quite flexible and can be planned by the SCEM to take into consideration personal commitments.

We can offer a high degree of flexibility, that will allow you to take lead in planning your work and work hours. It is possible to work partly from home and we offer an optional lunch arrangement as well as both personal caredays and children's caredays. SCD is part of a global network covering 118 countries and this provides for many opportunities for upskilling through both internal and external courses.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Develop and safeguard SCD’s strong portfolio in the assigned countries and ensure the positive relations with COs and with donors of SCD-funded grants.
  • Manage SCD funding initiatives and engagement in the assigned countries of the region in collaboration with the COs. This includes developing fundraising plans and writing new funding proposals in collaboration with COs and SCD colleagues.
  • Support COs in the quality assurance and control of funding proposals and donor reports, hence mitigate programming and financial risks.
  • Manage low-level relations with donors of SCD-funded awards in COs including submitting high-quality funding proposals to institutional donors such as Danida, INTPA and ECHO as well as to private foundations and corporations.
  • Capturing key lessons from country and regional programming to ensure that such knowledge is systematically taken into consideration.

­­YOUR PROFESSIONAL & PERSONAL PROFILE
You have a Master

in a relevant area of study or similar qualifications obtained in a different way. In addition, you will have:

  • Minimum 5 - 10 years of international project cycle management experience with documented successes in writing proposals and managing projects and donor contracts.
  • Extensive experience working with aid programming in at least one, and preferably more, of the following areas: Education, protection, MHPSS, livelihood and youth engagement with a strong partnership approach and local leadership focus.
  • Solid understanding of the Middle East context and preferably experience from working in one or more Middle East countries. Knowledge of and experience from Eastern Europe will be an added value.
  • Superior writing skills in English: Ability to independently present thematic theories of change in writing. This includes analysing and synthesizing information from external and internal sources.
  • Strong analytical skills: Ability to develop intervention logics on the basis of context analysis and to design projects and write convincing funding proposals.
  • Personal experience with Save the Children systems and procedures as well as Danish language competency is not a requirement but will be seen as an advantage.

TERMS & RECRUITMENT PROCES
The position is based in Copenhagen. Save the Children Denmark employs a hybrid working model to offer its employees flexibility regarding location of execution of work. Accordingly, as an employee, you can work partly from home during the week if the work allows it and in agreement with your manager.

You will be employed according to the terms and conditions of the local Collective Agreement between Red Barnet and the relevant unions. You will work 37 hours per week and the start date is 01.02.2025 or as soon as possible.
