Data Scientist with an Interest in Capsule Endoscopy and Data

The Surgical Department, Research House in Svendborg, is looking for an ambitious colleague to join our research unit. As a Data Scientist, you have a strong interest and expertise in data science within healthcare technology, and you are passionate about turning complex data into actionable insights for our researchers.
Your background should be in data science, computer science, artificial intelligence, or a closely related field, with experience in technical project management in large research projects. You will be hired as a Data Scientist in the Surgical Department, Research House. This is a 1-year project position, where you will focus on two major EU projects, utilizing your technical skills combined with knowledge of artificial intelligence and research.
Key tasks and responsibilities:
Your primary responsibilities will include:
- Serving as the technical link in EU projects
- Acting as a liaison between clinical and technical partners
- Developing data-driven solutions for use in our research
- Advising and collaborating with the research unit on the use of artificial intelligence and machine learning
- Presenting research results in relevant national and international forums
- Collaborating with international partners
We expect:
- To be considered for the position, you should possess the following documented qualifications:
- A degree in data science, computer science, or a related field
- Experience with technical project management
- Competence in artificial intelligence, machine learning, and data processing
- Strong collaboration skills and a cross-disciplinary mindset
- Proficiency in English, both written and spoken
In addition, it is an advantage if you have:
- Experience working with external research groups and/or cross-sectoral collaboration
- Experience with healthcare technology, particularly image processing, capsule endoscopy technology, and algorithm development for large data sets
- The ability to bridge clinical needs and technical solutions

You will contribute to developing and applying for research funding for new projects in the Surgical Department, Research House, thereby helping to strengthen our focus on data-driven surgery in Denmark. Additionally, you will also be responsible for driving technical processes forward and ensuring high-quality project outcomes.

Salary and Employment Conditions:
The position is set at 37 hours per week for 1 year.
Start date: 01.02.2025, or as soon as possible thereafter.
Your primary workplace will be at the Research House at Svendborg Hospital, Denmark.
The position is salaried according to the applicable collective agreement in the field and is subject to local salary negotiations. This means that mutual expectations regarding salary levels will be discussed during the interview. If you are not already employed in the Region of Southern Denmark, there will be a three-month probationary period.
