Senior Material/Chemical Compliance Expert for Product Circularity

Your challenges:
We are looking for a highly skilled and motivated Material/Chemical Compliance Expert to join our Regulatory Intelligence Conformity (RIC) team and report to
Senior Manager Hülya Genc-Fuhrman.
In the RIC team, among other tasks, we work towards ensuring that our products comply with all relevant chemical regulations and standards and support our efforts to enhance product circularity. In this role you will work cross-functionally with other relevant teams to integrate sustainable practices into our product lifecycle. Specifically, you will work on the chemical legacy of VELUX products and how this impacts our circularity and sustainability work.
We estimate you may need to travel 5-20 days /year primarily to other VELUX sites in Denmark and Europe.
Key Responsibilities in this role will be:
- Be the subject matter expert in VELUX for the chemical legacy of VELUX products
when we would like to refurbish, resell, recycle, and investigate reuse of our products and/or specific components.
- Collect & consolidate information on chemical legacy in former products and ensure dissemination of the information within the organization.
- Conduct chemical risk assessments and provide guidance on safe chemical use.
- Collaborate with product development teams to incorporate sustainable materials and practices.
- Monitor and report on regulatory changes and their impact on our products and circular processes.
- Assist Public Affairs colleagues in their efforts to achieve policies better supporting
circularity at European, national, and local level.
- Develop and implement chemical management policies and procedures.
- Support the development of circular economy strategies and initiatives.
- Provide training and support to internal teams on chemical compliance and
sustainability.
- Support compliance with global chemical regulations, including REACH, RoHS, and
other relevant standards.
Your Qualifications:
- MSc or PhD degree in Materials Science, Toxicology, Chemistry, Environmental
Science, Biology, Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of five years of experience in materials science, chemical compliance,
sustainability, or a circularity related role.
- In-depth knowledge of global chemical regulations and standards and their impact on product circularity.
- A good knowledge of plastics and PVC is an advantage.
- Good toxicological understanding of materials is an advantage.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Passion for sustainability and circular economy principles.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
