Senior Software Engineer - Frontend København, Hovedstaden, Denmark

Too Good To Go

København, Hovedstaden, Denmark

At Too Good To Go, we have an ambitious goal: to inspire and empower everyone to fight food waste together.

40% of all food produced in the world is wasted. And that has a huge impact on the health of our planet, with 10% of greenhouse gas emissions coming from food waste.

We’re more than an app: we are a certified B Corporation with a mission to empower everyone to take action against food waste, so alongside our marketplace app, we create educational tools, explore new business solutions - such as our Retail Technologies offering, and influence legislation to help reduce food waste.

We’re growing fast: Our community of 107 million registered users and 242,000 active partners across 19 countries, have together already prevented 388+ million meals from going to waste - avoiding over 1049.000 tonnes of CO2e!
The Role
We are looking for a Senior Frontend Software Engineer to be a part of our Tech Foundation team that defines, builds and delivers solutions to improve the core functionality used by all teams and the general frontend developer experience. As a Team Member in the Foundation team, you will work towards specific outcomes with the freedom and responsibility to figure out the best way to achieve them together with the other Engineers and other Product Team members.

Your mission will be to help refine, design, implement, deliver and maintain various internal services, libraries and frameworks, and help improve the general Frontend developer experience by improving the tool chain used by frontend developers.

As a Senior you will actively support your engineering lead in delivering a quality, maintainable and international top-class product, whilst being a role model for less-senior team members, by taking responsibility for problems and using your expertise to identify the right solutions. We want to be proud of our work and focus more on quality than deadlines.

The Tech Stack
We have created a single-page React application localised into multiple languages with TypeScript, RTK Query, MUI and react-router. Developers typically run the SPA locally with Vite or Webpack DevServer (including hot module replacement) against endpoints on test servers.

Responsibilities

  • Improving the frontend developer experience.
  • Improve and further automate our translation process.
  • Keeping the tech stack up to date.
  • Maintaining and improving the code style.
  • Maintaining and improving the automated test setup.
  • Integration with some of our external services (like Unleash, Amplitude etc).
  • Collaborate with the frontend developers on other product teams.
  • Actively participate in your team’s agile development processes with a continuous improvement mindset to deliver international top-class products with maximum quality, maintainability and scalability.
  • Take on additional tasks outside your current boundaries with help from your team to continue to grow and expand your skills.

The Ideal Candidate

  • Previous experience in front-end development, in a Senior role.
  • Competence in JavaScript, including DOM manipulation and CSS.
  • Understanding of advanced concepts in TypeScript.
  • Thorough understanding of React.js, its core principles (state, props, context, hooks).
  • Experience with state management solutions like Redux.
  • Experience with data fetching and caching libraries (such as RTK Query).
  • Familiarity with code versioning tools (such as Git).
  • Enjoys actively participating in a cross-functional product team.
  • Takes pride in writing quality code.
  • Extensive experience with common frontend development tools such as NPM, ESLint, Jest, Playwright, etc.
  • Familiarity with GitHub Actions.
  • Comfortable with creating CLI tools (NodeJS).

Our values

  • We win together: Food waste is a big beast to fight. We believe in a #oneteam.
  • We raise the bar: We always push for more. We work smart, smash barriers and elevate one another.
  • We keep it simple: Our ambitions are bold but our solutions are simple.
