We are looking for a colleague with experience in safety engineering to join our Systems Engineering team and be a part of developing our advanced radar systems.
About the position
As a System Safety Engineer in Weibel you will work with requirements and configuration of the overall system. This requires close collaboration with our different engineering departments to ensure that the various sub-systems work together in a manner that fulfills the overall system requirements.
Working at Weibel will provide you with hands-on experience with our radars. You get an understanding of the physics limiting radar performance and potential solutions. You are a part of the project from the final stages of the sales process until the factory acceptance test with the customer, where the performance of the finished system is tested based on predefined requirements.
The main responsibility will be:
- Risk Assessment and Management: Conduct risk assessments according to MIL882E and ISO12100 in order to identify and evaluate potential hazards in defense systems and operations.
- Safety Analysis: Perform safety analysis tasks such as Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA), Fault Tree Analysis (FTA), and Hazard and Operability Study (HAZOP) to identify potential failure points and develop mitigation strategies.
- Safety Standards Compliance: Ensure compliance with all relevant safety regulations and standards, including CE, military and defense-specific guidelines.
- Safety Design Integration: Collaborate with design and engineering teams to integrate safety features into system designs from the earliest stages of development.
- Testing and Validation: Oversee the testing and validation of safety systems to ensure they function as intended under all operational conditions.
- Documentation: Prepare detailed safety documentation, including safety plans, hazard logs, and risk assessment reports.
- Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for continuous improvement in safety processes and systems.
You can expect 10-20 travelling days per year.
About our new colleague
You have a university degree, preferably within electrical engineering and experience from a similar organisation within the defense industry, where you have worked with safety requirements for complex systems. You have a strong technical foundation and knowledge of systems engineering.
The ideal candidate has experience working with safety standards compliance on a system level and knowledge of military and defense standards specifically MIL882E. Furthermore, you have experience with design of complex systems with CE regulations in mind.
You will play an important role in ensuring that the development of the different sub-systems follow the overall safety requirements for the system. To be successful in this role it is important that you work in a systematic manner and have the ability to keep the overall requirements in mind.
You will work with many different stakeholders, so it is key that you have good communication skills and the ability to present your results in an effective and structured manner. You take ownership of your own tasks and deliver according to deadlines and the agreed upon quality.
Your new team
You will be joining our team of 14 competent colleagues in the Systems Engineering team. The level of experience in the team spans from newly graduated to more than 30 years of experience. Our team members have very different educational backgrounds that vary from electrical, aerospace and mechanical engineering to physics and computer science. We have created it in this way, because we believe that bringing people with different competences together will generate the best solutions.
