The job as Full-Stack Developer
As a Full-Stack Developer, you will be an integral part of our dynamic North American Power trading team, working alongside two experienced traders in our newly established office. Beyond the local team, you will collaborate closely with a global and diverse group of highly skilled traders, analysts, developers, and finance professionals.

In this role, you will design, develop, and maintain sophisticated web applications using Python, React, and SQL. Your work will involve creating scalable, user-centric applications allowing the traders to be at the forefront of the market. This position is crucial in advancing MFT’s mission to develop outstanding trading tools and establish us as leaders in trading technology.

The role is based in Revelstoke, BC, Canada.
Your key responsibilities

• Full-Stack Development: Design, develop, and maintain web applications using Python, React, and SQL
• Data Scraping and Management: Develop and maintain scripts to scrape data from various industry sources. Store and manage the scraped data efficiently
• Backend Tools for Trade Information: Build and maintain backend tools to collect and process trade information, ensuring data integrity and accuracy
• Reporting and Visualization: Design and develop custom reporting and visualization tools. Create intuitive front-end visualizations to empower the trading team with actionable insights from trade data
• Application Maintenance: Maintain and update existing trading applications. Ensure applications are running smoothly and efficiently
• Collaborate with Cross-Functional Teams: Work closely with traders, analysts, and other developers to build accurate and reliable applications
• Testing: Write unit tests and use testing frameworks to ensure high-quality deliverables
• Troubleshoot and Debug: Identify and resolve technical issues to ensure smooth application performance, taking ownership of the outcome.
• Code Quality Assurance: Ensure the production of clean, scalable, and efficient code. Conduct thorough code reviews, offering constructive feedback to maintain high standards
• Agile Participation: Actively engage in Agile/Scrum processes, including sprint planning and daily stand-ups, fostering a culture of continuous learning and adaptability

About you

Technical skills

• A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
• 4–8 years of software development experience
• Proficient in Python
• Strong skills in SQL for data storage and retrieval
• Experience in creating and managing APIs
• Proficiency in DevOps, including experience with Docker, CI/CD pipelines, and Azure
• Experience in React for developing user interfaces
• Familiarity with writing unit tests and using testing frameworks
• Experience with Git and distributed systems
• A good understanding of Agile methodologies
