Core Responsibilities
- Design and build the core platform and related features to the game engine.
- Design and build the compiler used to run the experience on hardware built by The LEGO Group.
- Build and improve the homemade programming language used to describe the play experience.
- Collaborate with other teams to improve performance and add new features.
- Ensure the quality and the robustness of the solution through coding best practices and architecture design.
- Work within our AGILE environment, offering constructive feedback to processes and development plans.

Play Engineering drives technology enabled play; where LEGO play sets are combined with electronic hardware and software to build a larger-than-life experience. This role sits within the Play Core & Experience part of Play Engineering where we develop platforms and solutions to provide play experiences running on multiple types of hardware.
As part of the Play Core & Experience teams, you will be a central part of the Play Engineering organisation as we drive to bring advanced technology in-house, working across all technical teams, while always focusing on the experience of LEGO fans of all ages. By joining Play Core & Experience, you will take a role as a Tech Lead and have the chance to be on the cutting edge of the future for LEGO.
Do you have what it takes?
- Skilled in the following programming languages: C, C#, Python.
- Experience building compilers and optimizing code efficiently.
- Experience designing and building scalable software platforms.
- Demonstrable ability to work on engineering projects within a team
- Be able to lead the team on technical decisions in a collaborative way
- Self organizer.
- Growth mindset.
Nice to have:
- Experience with embedded system.
- Experience using GitHub for code management.
- Experience using Jira for task management.
