Reporting to our Head of Legal, you will be part of a small team of two FTE’s, working closely with leadership and contributing to our growth journey and strategic decisions across Monta's international operations.
Your work will span a diverse range of legal areas. You will collaborate with internal stakeholders across departments ranging from Sales to Product, from Engineering to Account Management — and engage with external partners to negotiate agreements, mitigate conflicts, and ensure compliance in a very fast paced evolving regulatory landscape.
This role is based in Copenhagen, with opportunities (not required) for occasional travel to key markets such as Germany, the Nordics, and potentially the United States as Monta continues its global expansion.
The Legal Team at Monta
You will join a small, high performing team currently consisting of the Head of Legal and soon yourself. As Legal Counsel, you will be close to where the business decisions are made, gaining broad exposure to Monta’s operations while having the autonomy to work independently and make a meaningful impact across the organization.
Your Responsibilities
As Legal Counsel, you will drive Monta's legal efforts across multiple domains, ensuring that we enable Monta’s growth journey while maintaining compliance as we scale our innovative solutions globally.
Here are some things you’ll be working on:
- Contract Management and Negotiation
- Draft, review, and negotiate various contracts with charge point operators, e-mobility providers, utility companies, and more.
- Draft and negotiation contract types varying from SaaS platform contracts to white label agreements, managing different partnership models of various types, NDA’s, etc. and managing negotiations in multiple jurisdictions
- Actively support and enable Monta’s project teams before, during, and after contract execution.
- Legal Advisory
- Provide comprehensive advice to leadership and business teams on a variety of legal topics, including contract law, IT law, competition law, GDPR, NIS2, energy law and other strategically relevant legislation applicable to our segments.
- Advise on HR-related legal matters and support internal teams in addressing sensitive issues that require confidentiality.
- Be a trusted advisor to the organization in general.
- Regulatory Compliance and Risk Management
- Ensure compliance with international regulations, including AFIR, GDPR, competition law, and emerging frameworks.
- Assist in the resolution of technical incidents by advising on risks, managing stakeholders, and reporting as necessary to authorities
- Identify potential legal risks and propose mitigation strategies.
- Corporate Governance & Warrant Program
- Assist in the administration of our global warrant / stock option program.
- Ad hoc assistance with corporate legal matters, including as we engage in M&A and fundraising in the future.
- Internal Enablement and Training
- Conduct training sessions for Monta’s teams on key legal topics such as contract negotiation, data protection, and compliance best practices.
- Enable the organization to perform by taking an active role in creating and improving our internal standards, practices and guidelines.
How you'll succeed - Your key outcomes will be:
It’s not just what you do – how your work impacts our products and processes is also important to us. Besides the tasks you complete, we’ll also be measuring the tangible outcomes and improvements you set in motion – which will (hopefully) increase your professional growth and satisfaction with us at the same time.
To do this, we imagine you to have the following experience:
- You have a background as a qualified lawyer or a similar commercial law role with experience from working in the EU, ideally with some knowledge about our core markets (Denmark, Germany, UK, Sweden, Norway, France, Austria, Spain - and perhaps even the United States)
- You can demonstrate at least 3+ years of professional experience in the area of corporate/commercial law, which you have acquired in a top law firm or in the legal department of a renowned company
- You work independently, you thrive in a fast-paced and parallel work environment and enjoy solution-oriented decisions
- You have demonstrated strong drafting skills (e.g., contracts, policies, disclosures) and oral/written communication skills for both legal and non-legal audiences
- You know when to seek advice and are comfortable initiating and managing projects with external counsel
- You take privacy and security seriously, and always consider them when developing solutions.
(Do you fit most of these requirements, but not all? That’s fine: we’d love to hear from you all the same!)
