At K2 Management, we’re on the hunt for a highly motivated student to spend the summer as part of our Analysis Services team in Glasgow, UK. We’re an exciting, independent renewable energy consultancy with offices around the world, employing approximately 155 people. You’ll be joining one of the industry’s most experienced and well-respected wind and solar analysis consultancy teams, supporting our clients in their efforts to facilitate the growth of renewable energy worldwide.

What you’ll be doing:
You will be required to complete a project that will be of material commercial benefit to the K2M Analysis Services team by improving the efficiency, accuracy, or dependability of our work. Delivery of the project will be directly supported by your supervisor as well as the wider Analysis Services team. Recent examples of internship projects include:
- Developing an improved approach to predicting the impact of extreme flow conditions on turbine performance using CFD modelling results
- Improving on our current industry leading approach for calculating wind farm curtailments in the time domain
- Developing an improved graphical software tool to facilitate improved analysis of Wind Farm SCADA data
- Investigating the ability of a new open-source turbine wake modelling package to predict turbine interaction losses for offshore wind farms
The Analysis Services team:
The Analysis Services Team work closely together to ensure that we offer the highest quality service to our clients. We work on both pre-construction and operational wind farms. All our analysts have solid numerical ability, good technical judgement and carry out work involving some or all the following tasks:
- Analysis and interpretation of measured wind data
- Analysis of long-term trends using reference meteorological data
- Modelling of wind flow over wind farm sites using CFD and mesoscale models
- Calculation of long-term wind farm energy yield, including consideration of energy yield losses such as wake effects, turbine performance and environmental constraints such as noise
- Written and verbal communication of complex technical issues to both technical and non-technical audiences
- Effective teamwork to deliver projects on time and to budget
Our working environment is open plan, allowing junior staff immediate opportunity to work closely with experienced senior staff. You will work closely with analysts to support our work and contribute to developing new tools or knowledge to improve our processes.
About you:
To excel in this role, you’ll need to have:
- Strong interest in renewable energy
- Beginning the final year of an engineering or scientific degree course in Autumn 2024
- A-Level, higher or equivalent in Maths
- Advanced computing aptitude including data handling and analysis. Ideally including Python.
If you also have relevant previous work experience or education in the renewables industry or a background in fluid dynamics, you’ll definitely have an edge. Excellent communication skills and the flexibility and enthusiasm to thrive as part of our expanding team will also come in handy.
Duration:
The internship will last for approx. 3 months with an ideal start date in June 2025. The start date is flexible to suit your availability.
Remuneration:
For the duration of the internship, you will be treated as though you are a full-time K2 Management employee. You will receive a competitive salary and accrue annual leave.

Wind and solar analysis is an evolving science, and our aim is to be the best wind and solar analysis team in the industry; to deliver the highest quality work and maximise our contribution to project value and the development and operation of better renewable energy projects.
The Analysis Services team currently contains over 35 individuals based in Germany, Sweden, Taiwan, Thailand, UK and USA with major hubs in Bangkok, Bristol and Glasgow. The three analysis sub-teams (Pre-construction wind, Operational wind and Solar) cooperate closely, with some team members working across several disciplines. We are a growing team, committed to developing the wind and solar analysts of the future and have an active graduate recruitment scheme in Thailand and the UK.
We focus heavily on constant refinement of our methods through R&D.
