The Section of Medical Biotechnology at the Department of Biotechnology and Chemical Engineering, Aarhus University, invites applications for a 3 year postdoctoral fellow position in “Immunological Biotechnology and Therapeutic Protein Development”.
Expected start date and duration of employment
The position is available from 1 March 2025 or as soon as possible herafter. The duration of the position is 36 months.
Job description
The Immunological Biotechnology group headed by Edzard Spillner offers applicants an exciting opportunity to join an ambitious and externally funded research project in development of protein-based biotherapeutics.
The global burden of immune-mediated and malignant diseases is increasing, and novel concepts for treatment are needed. The project is positioned at the interface of protein engineering, immunology, molecular allergology and cell biology, and will focus on the development of biotherapeutics with enhanced functional activity. The project will mainly rely on protein generation and characterisation, antibody technologies and in vitro and cellular analyses of subsequent protein degradation.

Your profile
Applicants should hold a PhD in Biotechnology, Biomedicine Molecular Biology, or similar and have strong experience within protein engineering, molecular interaction analysis, immunological techniques, and molecular immunology. Experience with structural and kinetic analyses and flow cytometry are considered advantageous.
Personal competences, e.g. the ability to work as part of an international research team, to supervise students, etc., are required.

The Department of Biotechnology and Chemical Engineering represents multidisciplinary research fields within the sections of medical biotechnology, industrial biotechnology, process and materials engineering, and environmental engineering.
The section of Medical Biotechnology covers research areas including nanofiber technologies, organoid biotechnology, biomechanics and immunological biotechnology.

Applications must be received no later than 31 January 2025.
Application procedure
Shortlisting is used. This means that after the deadline for applications – and with the assistance from the assessment committee chairman, and the appointment committee if necessary, – the head of department selects the candidates to be evaluated. All applicants will be notified whether or not their applications have been sent to an expert assessment committee for evaluation. The selected applicants will be informed about the composition of the committee, and each applicant is given the opportunity to comment on the part of the assessment that concerns him/her self. Once the recruitment process is completed a final letter of rejection is sent to the deselected applicants.

Formalities and salary range
Technical Sciences refers to the Ministerial Order on the Appointment of Academic Staff at Danish Universities under the Danish Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation.
The application must be in English and include a curriculum vitae, degree certificate, a complete list of publications, a statement of future research plans and information about research activities, teaching portfolio and verified information on previous teaching experience (if any). Appointment shall be in accordance with the collective labour agreement between the Danish Ministry of Taxation and the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations. Salary depends on seniority as agreed between the Danish Ministry of Taxation and the Confederation of Professional Associations.
