DFDS A/S
Temporary (12 months) position, with possible option to extend
Apply for this job
At DFDS, we are committed to a climate-neutral future and are working proactively to make this a reality for all areas of our business and for the customers we serve.
To accelerate the pace of our green transition, we have established a central Decarbonisation Team, with the mission to drive alignment across all of our decarbonisation activities company-wide. In practice, that means setting strategies and targets, establishing the pathway to net-zero, and managing the portfolio of projects – technical, commercial and operational – related to decarbonisation.
Be part of the movement - and play your part.
About the role
The position as Project Manager is a key role in the team, responsible for managing projects in support of decarbonisation of our commercial activities. As a Project Manager you will work closely with stakeholders and operational teams within the Divisions across the DFDS Group, and colleagues within the Decarbonisation Team.
Key responsibilities include:
- In collaboration with colleagues and stakeholders, you will develop and manage individual projects that will deliver the greenhouse gas reductions necessary to meet stated targets, with a particular focus on our operational activities.
- Ensure project progress, delivery on milestones and handover to business units at project closure
- Define and track relevant project-specific KPI’s.
- Work closely with colleagues in the Decarbonisation Team to ensure that decarbonisation projects are effectively translated from pathways, and that potential risks, costs, benefits and trade-offs are properly identified and assessed
- Communicate effectively with stakeholders to ensure that decarbonisation projects are aligned with broader organizational goals and objectives, and that relevant stakeholders are informed of progress and milestones
- Work with suppliers, operating businesses and functional experts to assess opportunities, risks and develop business cases and clear implementation plans
- Connect with external and internal experts to continuously monitor a fast-changing technology, legislative and vendor landscape
- Work with site and procurement teams, coaching them in effective management of renewable projects and connecting site teams with experts and previous learnings.
- Occasionally present business cases for projects to the Decarbonisation Board
- Actively contribute to relevant aspects of DFDS’s decarbonisation strategy
About you
We think the strongest teams are built on diversity and inclusivity. Contrasting opinions, varied skills and strong characters bring out the best in us all. And we cannot wait for you to join.
With this in mind, relevant candidates may come from varying backgrounds, but we imagine that:
- You have a degree in a relevant field, e.g. Science, Engineering, Supply Chain Management or Environmental Management
- You have professional experience in the field of shipping and/or logistics, and as minimum a demonstrable interest in and knowledge of environmental sustainability and decarbonisation techniques
- You have at least 3 years of experience in a project management role, with a demonstrated track record of developing and managing projects and successfully executing projects in an international organization
- You have experience working within transport and logistics
We are looking for someone with strong project management skills who can structure and manage multiple initiatives in parallel, prioritizing and allocating resources effectively. You should be an excellent communicator, capable of explaining complex concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences. This, combined with a team-player mindset, will help you drive results through collaboration with multiple stakeholders.
Creativity in problem-solving is a must, as is the ability to see ideas through from inception to implementation. You should have a drive and curiosity, a go-doer mindset, and be willing to roll up your sleeves and dive into the detail when needed.
We are seeking an individual with a passion for driving change and projects. As the nature of the job requires you to work across teams and geographical locations, some travel activity must be expected.
The role will be based at the DFDS headquarters in Copenhagen.
We expect you to be motivated by being part of a small, diverse and high-performing team who embrace challenge and change, and in which all team members relish working top to bottom in their roles.
Working at DFDS
You will join a talented, passionate, innovation- and delivery-focused team, within a company that is committed to sustainability. All team members are expected to take ownership of their own responsibilities, further develop their own role, and contribute to the development and direction of the team as a whole.
Our newly built headquarters in Copenhagen is a unique, modern workplace which received the award Office building of the year 2023. Here, we enjoy our own game room, fitness facilities, cantine and café and a rooftop terrace with a beautiful ocean view, all just 5 minutes from the nearest train & metro station.
