Postdoc in coupled dynamic subsurface geochemistry, geomechanics, and multiphase flow - DTU Offshore
Danmarks Tekniske Universitet (DTU)
Are you interested to be part of the energy transition R&D?
Are you interested to be part of the energy transition R&D?
The Danish Offshore Technology Centre, Technical University of Denmark (DTU), invites applicants for three research positions on investigations of multiphysics investigations for subsurface CO2 storage and geothermal energy production. By joining our team, you will be working in an international environment and cooperate with some of the largest industrial players, TotalEnergies, and Nordsøfonden, as well as academic researchers. The project is part of DOTC’s aspiration to be a key player in the energy transition, and we are looking for ambitious colleagues who shares this vision.
The main objectives of the projects are to study: 1) coupled multi-physics (THMC) processes for CO2 injection in wells and near wellbore region, 2) understanding the multiphysics behaviour of reservoir and overburden rock, and well cement under CO2 storage conditions, 3) develop efficient coupled simulations for fractured reservoir, 4) develop novel solutions for testing cement behaviour. The work consists of data analysis, laboratory experiments, and model development and simulations.
Responsibilities and qualifications
We prefer that you are an expert in geomechanics or geochemistry and multiphase flow in porous media. Industrial experience and reservoir simulations experience are advantageous but not a requirement. Being open to multi-disciplinary research and teamwork is a must as you will work in close collaboration with the members of the research team. A close collaboration with our project partners and delivering results are essential for the success of the project.
Your background would require several elements:
- PhD degree in civil engineering, geomechanics, or other relevant areas;
- Knowledge of the fundamentals of non-isothermal flow, chemistry and mechanics in porous media;
- Interest in applied research with a focus on delivering results to partners.
- Skills in scientific programming languages;
- Ability to work in a multi-disciplinary environment;
- Good communication skills in English;
- Thorough, focused and hardworking person;
As a formal qualification, you must hold a PhD degree (or equivalent).
