The department
Welltec as a company is a truly global diverse team with over 60 nationalities in total. At Welltec, you will join our mechanical department situated in our completions Design & Engineering (D&E) function which currently consists of over 20 colleagues worldwide with various educational backgrounds and nationalities. In D&E we work closely together - in order to get a holistic approach to our products and tools and to benefit from each other’s knowledge and expertise. In D&E, the work environment is informal, creative, and fun but at times it can be complex, challenging, and fast-paced.
The team that you will join is responsible for the development and maintenance of Welltec’s proprietary metal expandable packer technology and other innovative technologies which we constantly introduce to the market through our global footprint.
The position
As a mechanical engineer within Design and Engineering (D&E) you will have the possibility to be innovative and create technology solutions from the idea phase to the commercial implementation. The main task is to develop new technologies where your focus will be development of mechanical systems.
You will, together with the team, be part of conceptualization of products and detailed design development both for prototypes and commercial design. You will work in an environment where you will be able to develop your skills and where innovation is a key focus and you will be part of an agile business where your input will be heard. Travelling for exhibition and conferences related to the energy market can be expected to a smaller extent.
As our new Mechanical Engineer, you will:
- Be part of concept phase as team and have ownership of design and manufacturing package
- Conduct prototype assembly and function testing/troubleshooting
- Ensure collaboration with relevant teams and stakeholders within the organisation
- Cooperate with sub-contractors
- Take ownership of schedules and delivery times
- Challenge the business with new ideas and concepts
- Contribute to the development and continuous improvement of the Design and Engineering (D&E) department
Your tasks will include:
- Work on technical projects through all development phases
- Working in teams on development projects with both own and shared tasks
- Conceptualization and feasibility studies
- Design review guided by DFM, FMEA principles and robust design thinking
- 3d mechanical design
- Trouble shooting on both existing solutions as well as new solutions under development
- Provide your guidance and input in your specific expert areas across the whole organization
The candidate
You are proactive in your daily tasks and have an analytical and critical approach to problem solving. You have a quick, creative mind with a natural understanding of complex concepts and systems. The ideal candidate is someone who gets excited by technology and open-ended challenges as described above.
In order to perform well in this role, you should also have the following qualifications or similar competencies:
- Mechanical Engineer B.Sc, M.Sc. or similar background
- Experience from oilfield, energy sector, hydraulics, precision mechanics, electro mechanical systems, mechatronics or similar is a plus
- Takes ownership of tasks and projects – enjoys broad responsibility
- Agile Project Management skills
- Is an experienced CAD user in Catia Software or similar system
- Is experienced in the use of FEA simulations in ANSYS or similar system
- Most importantly – commitment to learn the skills not yet acquired but required for the job
