The Embassy is looking to hire an energetic full time junior professional to join the department for trade and economic diplomacy in Germany, as part of the Northwest Europe-Team. Our main objective is to promote Danish commercial interests in the region and we do this by assisting and developing strategies for Danish companies, with a number of activities from market analyses, customer and partner search, to strategic business development.
About the position:
As Junior Commercial Advisor, you will be part of a diverse team of advisors at the Danish missions in Berlin, Hamburg and Munich, as well as the Hague and Brussels. We identify possibilities for Danish business by monitoring and analysing current market trends and presenting business opportunities to Danish companies. Through your counselling you can take part in securing that companies gain new knowledge, and a strong foothold in the market, with specific focus on the German speaking region.
Germany is Denmark’s largest trading partner, and one of the first export markets for Danish SMEs. The role as commercial advisor will be to assist a large number of Danish SMEs as well as large companies, by researching, analysing and providing information, and on that background develop strategies. The right candidate, with drive and flair for digital solutions, will get the opportunity to affect the content of the position, and we highly appreciate you bringing new ideas and perspectives to the table with the companies in focus. We are looking for an outgoing and proactive person, who is keen to deliver service and make a difference for various companies – and has strong team working skills.
Main tasks and responsibilities:
- Coordinating activities and being the intermediary between Danish companies and German partners.
- Building a professional network by identifying and establishing contact with relevant German stakeholders.
- Gathering, analysing and presenting information relevant to various sectors.
- Taking part in developing ideas and export strategies for Danish companies.
- Organizing activities, i.e., conferences and delegation trips to Germany/Denmark, incl. workshops.
- Planning and setting up business meetings and company visits in Germany and Denmark.
Qualifications:
- You have a relevant commercial education.
- You have an interest in Germany and the German market and a strong willingness to keep up with current market trends.
- You can quickly understand and analyse new topics, and present them in a meaningful way.
- You are business oriented and have a good understanding of internationalisation.
- You possess good team working skills but can also work well independently.
- You can establish close and systematic customer relations through the entire process - from proactive sales to execution. Including strategic cases.
- Knowledge of the German language as well as an open mind towards improving German language skills is expected. English (orally and written) is granted, and knowledge of a Scandinavian language is a plus.
What we offer:
- You will be hired as a “Junior Commercial Advisor” at the Embassy of Denmark in Berlin on a two-year contract, with the possibility of extension.
- You will be hired on a local contract based on Mission Staff Rules.
- Starting date is 1st of March 2025 or as soon as possible after security clearance.
- Your standard working hours are 37 hours per week, including a paid lunch break.
