Research Assistant in Mixed-Reality for Schools - DTU Compute

Join an Erasmus+ KA2 project team to co-design and evaluate an MR authoring tool for schools. Collaborate with school teachers and EU partners (France, Turkey). Responsibilities: Participatory use case design of MR tool, pilot study, & community management. Have teaching experience & English fluency.

At DTU Compute’ LearnT centre, you will be integrating and improving the features of the Mixed Reality (MR) platform MixAP through collaborative lesson design and pilot studies with schoolteachers.

Responsibilities and qualifications
You will work in collaboration with the researchers, software developers, and schoolteachers associated with the Erasmus+ KA2 project MIXAP-EU for observing, co-designing, and evaluating the MIXAP platform in schools. You will closely collaborate with two more teams based at (1) Le Mans University (LIUM), France and (2) Bahçeşehir Üniversitesi Foundation (BUF), Turkey.

You are expected to be able to handle the following in collaboration with the partners and by involving teachers from Danish schools:

  • Integration of MR authoring in schools: (1) Developing the procedure and conducting co-design workshops with teachers, (2) evaluating the co-design workshops results, teacher needs, and requirements, (3) writing guidelines for MR authoring tools in schools
  • Co-design and development of the MR authoring tool: (1) Improving MIXAP with extra features and content (assets, activity templates and scenarios), (2) Organizing and running three pilot sessions in teachers’ classes, (3) evaluating teacher and learner data from pilots.
  • Community management of teachers around MR authoring: (1) Defining sustainable community management, (2) Setting up and managing community management tools (website, social media, events), (3) Creating tutorials, (4) Launching large-scale pilot studies all over Europe.
  • Communication, outreach, and dissemination: (1) write project reports, academic articles, and disseminate in national and international forums including writing articles in the print and social media, (2) prepare and coordinate content publishing for the website and other media for the dissemination of project outcomes

To be considered as the ideal member of our team, you:

  • should have a professional bachelor in teacher education from Denmark and master’s degree in a relevant discipline
  • should have experience in teaching science, social science and mathematics at school level in Denmark
  • should have strong motivation to conduct research on digital learning technologies as part of a multi-disciplinary team
  • must be able to communicate fluently in English, both written and spoken.

Further it is considered beneficial if you:

  • have published at academic conferences or in journals in the field of education or e-learning
  • have knowledge about various teaching methods beyond the Danish educational context, e.g. knowledge from other countries.
  • have experience with digital learning technologies.

Salary and terms of employment
The appointment will be based on the collective agreement with the Confederation of Professional Associations. The allowance will be agreed upon with the relevant union.

The period of employment is until September 2027. The position is part-time (854.7 hours, approx. 20%).
