This internship offers an excellent opportunity to develop skills in global health advocacy, stakeholder engagement, event coordination, and digital content management. The intern will work across various projects to support IFRC Network strategy for NCDs integration in humanitarian health frameworks, engaging with multiple teams and contributing to impactful advocacy efforts and improving the IFRC Network efficiency in NCD interventions
The upcoming Fourth High-Level Meeting of the United Nations General Assembly (UNHLM) on the Prevention and Control of NCDs in 2025 presents a critical opportunity to prioritize Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs) in humanitarian settings. The Red Cross and Red Crescent (RCRC) Network has been a dedicated advocate for the inclusion of NCD care in emergency preparedness and response, reflecting its commitment in global policy requests.

The NCD Intern will provide comprehensive support for the RCRC NCD advocacy initiatives within humanitarian settings and leading up to the UNHLM on NCDs expected to happen in Sept. 2025.

This internship will be hosted by the Danish Red Cross – International Department – Technical and Quality and Impact unit and working closely in a daily basis with the DRC health advisors. The Intern is also expected to support the IFRC NCD officer based in Geneva.

During your internship you will support and learn about the following areas:

  • Provide logistical and administrative support for IFRC Network high-level stakeholder relations related to NCD advocacy and scoping mission for the NCD learning.
  • Assist in organizing and documenting events, webinars and meetings on NCD priorities in humanitarian settings, including managing participant communication, scheduling, and follow-up.
  • Assist in the development, formatting, and dissemination of advocacy messages and materials to communicate key findings on NCD care in humanitarian settings, including compiling research, organizing case studies, and supporting the creation of evidence-based materials, ensuring they are up-to-date and reach relevant audiences.
  • Coordinate the gathering and presentation of case studies on successful NCD interventions in humanitarian settings, working with DRC and IFRC regional offices and partners.
  • Help manage a digital platform to centralize research, case studies, and key messages, collaborating with IT for technical support.

Occasional travels to Geneva and elsewhere can be expected.

We expect from you:

  • Relevant university program (Global Health, Management, International Relations, Development, Social)
  • Excellent communication skills – written and verbal – with an ability to synthesise complex reports and papers into clear briefing notes
  • Attention to detail with a strong focus on the delivery of results and accountability
  • Organizational, Information management and planning skills
  • Ability to work with sensitive issues in a multi-cultural environment and with virtual or/and dispersed teams
  • Fluent spoken and written English

The position will be based in Copenhagen. Interviews will take place during week 4 and 5. The internship will be fulltime (37 hours / week) for five months starting 1 Feb 2025 or as soon as possible thereafter.

The internship is unpaid, however DRC will provide the necessary workplace and cover all costs related to participation in meetings or travels outside Copenhagen, if required.
