Chief Architect
Are you a visionary leader enthusiastic about commercial/technical modularization projects?
Grundfos seeks a collaborative Chief Architect to lead our modularization projects and formulate a long-term modular strategy for a specific product portfolio.
What is the job about?
As the Chief Architect, you will deliver the result of the modular strategy, a product and production portfolio reference architecture with well-defined interfaces between modules, enabling the future development of a specific product portfolio. This is accumulated in a masterplan. The masterplan plan also includes wishes for future product launches, financial pain points, future legislation, and new technology, among other topics.
Main responsibilities include:
- Take the overall lead in creating the modular strategy for a specific product portfolio utilizing the Grundfos module system.
- Collaborate closely with Module Managers to ensure the modules fulfill the customer requirements and support modularization across all product portfolios in the company. This is to avoid sub-optimized product portfolios.
- Be part of a core team working closely together with the project manager and modularization specialists. You will have a mentoring role in developing modularization talents on their learning journey
- Identify technical issues, prepare the scope of the clarification, and follow up on progress.
- Create future reference architecture in close cooperation with specialists in Divisions and Group Technology & Innovation.
- Balance customer value and internal complexity across the entire value chain in the development of architectures and selection/definition of modules/interfaces.
- Provide objective trade-off decision material with a full value chain perspective, such as, for example, cost of complexity.
- Co-ordinate the creation of the entire masterplan with future reference architecture based on business input from the market and take input from the operations and finances into account when creating the architecture.
- Lead the evaluation of the suggested reference architecture by preparing the portfolio business case in the finance view in the master plan.
- Give input to the project manager regarding the need for resources and timeline.
- Support the development projects in implementing the product- & production reference architecture.
- Maintain the reference architecture in the product platform lifecycle. This includes maintaining relations, especially with the platform board and the staff executing future development projects.
The role is a full-time position based in our Bjerringbro office.
Your background
We imagine you will have previous experience in a technical role, with a high degree of commercial and technical knowledge. You will have a strategic mindset, with the ability to understand the bigger picture and translate this into tactical initiatives and plans.
We believe you are a proactive, self-driven change agent who can prioritize. You must have high analytical and problem-solving skills, with flexibility and ability to adapt to change.
Good communication is a necessity in all forms. You enjoy working with people and are confident in speaking at all levels.
Being fluent in written and spoken English is a prerequisite.
We are also ideally looking for the following qualifications and experience:
- MSc/BSc in engineering with many years of work experience.
- Skills/experience in Systems Engineering.
- Holistic understanding across different engineering disciplines, i.e., mechanics, electronics, digital and software.
- Significant experience and understanding of modularization and standardization.
- Good business insight with solid financial understanding and experience with business case / financial calculations.
- Good understanding of the full value chain, i.e., market, product/technology, and production.
