We are expanding our EHS organization to support our mission of protecting lives every day. We are dedicated to continuously improving our EHS performance, ensuring it remains a priority across all business units.
The growing team consists of 11 members, and you collaborate with global program leads and a network of senior EHS professionals to drive impactful initiatives. You will work daily with our Biosafety Team and partner with Operations and HR to ensure a comprehensive and adaptive Well-being program across BN.
The new hybrid position can be based in Kvistgaard, Denmark; Bern, Switzerland; or Munich, Germany, and requires 15–20% travel to other Bavarian Nordic locations. Therefore, candidates located elsewhere should be open to relocation. You will report directly to the Global EHS Director.
Your Impact
This global role offers the opportunity to shape Bavarian Nordic’s EHS strategy from high-level vision to hands-on execution, collaborating with diverse teams across our international sites.
Your key tasks will include:
- Leading programs for workplace health hazards, including exposure assessments, risk characterization, and containment solutions
- Overseeing Chemicals in the Workplace, ergonomic initiatives, hearing conservation, Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)/ Respiratory Protective Equipment (RPE) management, and the Wellbeing program
- Ensuring compliance with legislation (REACH, Chemical Agents Regulations) and supporting audits, inspections, and internal processes
- Driving cultural change by integrating Human and Operational Performance (HOP) principles to enhance safety behaviors
- Providing technical guidance, conducting chemical risk assessments, supporting incident investigations, and collaborating across global teams

You will play a pivotal role in enhancing workplace safety, promoting wellbeing, and driving cultural change across the organization.
To succeed in this role, you will need:
- A bachelor's degree in Engineering, Science, Microbiology, Organic Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, or EHS-related field with 8+ years of experience, or a master’s degree in Engineering, Science, Industrial Hygiene, Analytical Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or EHS-related field with 5+ years of experience
- To be a Qualified Occupational Hygienist and member of CMIOSH
- Pharmaceutical industry experience is highly beneficial
- Strong knowledge of EHS management systems, preferably in ISO45001 contexts
- Proficiency in English written and spoken; Danish or German is a plus
