The section for System Engineering and Optimization (SYS) at DTU Wind and Energy Systems is looking for an outstanding candidate for a development engineer / scientific programmer to work within the field of system engineering applied to wind based energy systems (Wind Farms, Wind Clusters, and Hybrid Power Plants, including wind, solar, batteries, P2X), in collaboration with domain experts from different sections.

The development engineer will join an international team developing methods and software tools for supporting research internally at DTU and externally in the wind industry.
The job

As a development engineer / scientific programmer, you are expected to support high-quality research and develop high-quality code at the intersection of wind farm flow modelling, wind-based energy system design and control and electrical systems engineering.
What you bring to the role
We are looking for a self-motivated and team-oriented person who thrives in a collaborative environment and enjoys working with complex topics.
We're looking for candidates with an MSc or equivalent qualification and specific expertise in:
- scientific python programming
- optimization and / or control
- problem-solving, and ability to create efficient numerical algorithms.
You should also possess:
- excellent command of the English language
- good ability to present results in written documents and oral presentations.
We highly value and welcome any additional expertise you bring in these areas:
- Machine Learning / AI
- Wind Farm Flow Modelling
- Wind Farm design and / or control
- Wind farm electrical cable layout optimization
- Continuous Integration and Unit Testing
- Contributing to open-source software development and documentation, community engagement
- Running code on high performance computers and / or GPUs
- Experience with version control systems such as Git
- Experience with simulation tools and environments relevant to wind energy (e.g., PyWake, TOPFARM, FLORIS, WRF, CorRES, FAST, HAWC2, WAsP).

Salary and appointment terms
The appointment will be based on the collective agreement with the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations. The allowance will be agreed upon with the relevant union.
The desired starting date is the 1st of March 2025, but it can be changed upon mutual agreement. This is a full-time position.
