Overview
Microsoft Cloud Operations and Innovation (CO&I) is the team behind the cloud. Within CO&I, the Engineering Procurement and Construction (EPC) team is responsible for delivering core datacenter infrastructure for Microsoft’s cloud business. The MS portfolio consists of complex, multi-disciplinary, large scale, multi-year datacenter construction and lease projects. Responsibilities
The Campus Project Manager manages team's deployment of large-scale, campus, and/or regionally-based delivery solutions while also socializing with regional leaders. Analyzes and recommends delivery options from a technical standpoint based on best practices and trends, supports the development and implementation of all organizational procedures and standards, and ensures they are followed by all team members and vendors. Orchestrates work with internal and external partners to resolve complex issues and ensures schedule predictability to contracted milestones and in doing so may significantly impact global construction projects. Reviews and provides feedback to the team and regional management regarding resource procurement, allocation, and human capital resources for future upcoming projects. Holds their team(s) accountable for on-schedule delivery of projects by ensuring project progress reports including scope, schedule, resources, and budget are provided. Manages the day-to-day coordination for meetings and activities with vendors, cost managers, and/or owner/architect/contractors. Facilitates collaboration with other internal teams. Reviews safe worksite(s) by adhering to organizational, industry procedures, and global safety policies. Establishes, reviews, and communicates risk mitigation goals and develops metrics, dashboards and/or scorecards to drive progress. Leads the day-to-day management of vendors. In addition, this role has people management responsibilities including driving employee growth and development, executing projects, and managing performance.
Budget and Controls:
Develops, manages, and reports on the scope, schedule, change orders, estimates, and budget of the project. Collaborates alongside the Cost team to provide overall cost and budget control support. Monitors the approved project budget and provides oversight and suggests necessary adjustments for project controls (e.g., Project Expenditure Request (PERs), Professional Services Request (PSRs), Change Orders, Pay Applications, etc.).
Change Management:
Leads the implementation of organizational policies and processes, in compliance with Cloud Operations + Innovation (CO+I) partners with a focus on cost savings, scheduling optimization, value engineering, enhanced customer service, or improved asset management.
Coordination:
Manages the day-to-day coordination for meetings and activities with vendors, cost managers, and/or owner/architect/contractors. Monitors and implements possible opportunities to discuss and integrate lessons learned.
Drives Results:
Orchestrates work with internal and external partners to resolve complex issues and ensures schedule predictability to contracted milestones and in doing so may significantly impact global construction projects (e.g., establishing and executing upon team goals, following business processes, maintaining vendor relationships, and focusing collaboration efforts on agreed-upon project strategy and milestones).
Financial Acumen:
Holds others accountable for identifying cost-effective solutions for the strategic and tactical delivery of a construction project. Develops and estimates project costs, budget management, and financial reporting.
Goal Alignment:
Facilitates collaboration with other internal teams (e.g., Security (OSSC), Information Technology (MSIT), Legal, Project Engineering, Business Risk Management, etc.) to maintain a shared vision and goals for the projects.
Managing Resources:
Reviews and provides feedback to the team and regional management regarding resource procurement, allocation, and human capital resources for future upcoming projects. Ensures storage space is provided for equipment/materials for current and future projects.
Project Management:
Manages team's deployment of large-scale, campus, and/or regionally-based delivery solutions (e.g., new and/or retrofit data center solutions) while also socializing with regional leaders. Sets goals for internal and occasionally external project teams under their purview of responsibility, monitors completion of responsibilities, measures performance against contracted Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), and seeks and delivers feedback to achieve timely results. Provides regular reports regarding performance, insights, issues, and site visits performed (e.g., photograph evidence).
Project Tracking:
Holds their team(s) accountable for on-schedule delivery of projects by ensuring project progress reports including scope, schedule, resources, and budget are provided.
Risk Mitigation:
Establishes, reviews, and communicates risk mitigation goals and develops metrics, dashboards and/or scorecards to drive progress. Reviews roots cause analysis (RCAs), safety metrics, and communicate results to drive project action and individual development to lower-level staff and vendors.
Safety and Regulation:
Reviews safe worksite(s) by adhering to organizational, industry procedures, and global safety policies. Reviews prior audit results and relevant legislation to manage safety compliance. Implements and manages safety performance improvement plans and any required mitigations. Shares lessons learned with relevant stakeholders.
Technical Acumen:
Analyzes and recommends delivery options from a technical standpoint based on best practices and trends, supports the development and implementation of all organizational procedures and standards, and ensures they are followed by all team members and vendors.
Vendor Management:
Leads the day-to-day management of vendors, ensuring compliance with contracts and prior audit results. Provides internal reporting to management on vendor performance and escalates as necessary to maintain commitments. Manages vendor performance relative to cash flow and budget summaries (with cost management support). Provides direction and recommended corrective actions guide vendors and internal support teams as needed.
Vendor Selection:
Manages the preparation of Requests for Proposals (RFPs), Scope of Work (SOWs), Project Expenditure Requests (PERs), and other project approval tools and templates. Identifies and directs vendor scope of work, design review of site and building plans, change orders, and invoices
Qualifications
Required Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in Construction Project Management, Architecture, Engineering, or related field AND Significant years of related experience in Construction Project Management, Architecture, Engineering OR equivalent experience.
Additional or preferred qualifications: Good years of people management and project management experience and experience working on data center projects. Bachelor's Degree in Construction Project Management, Architecture, Engineering, or related field AND years of related experience OR equivalent experience.

- Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
