As a Process Engineer in FLSmidth Cement, you will be part of the Proposal and Process Design department. It is a highly motivated and dedicated team responsible for the cement process related calculations in FLSmidth Cement. This covers raw material grinding, pyro-processing including clay calcination, related emission prediction & abatement and subsequently cement grinding and quality. In cooperation with Sales and the customer, we select process solutions and equipment as well as we prepare the required technical process related documentation, e.g. heat and mass balances, performance guarantees and environmental impact.

FLSmidth Group has embarked on a process to explore divestment opportunities for FLSmidth Cement. This is an important step in the transformation journey of Cement, as set out in our GREEN26 strategy.

Your responsibilities

• Designing and dimensioning new products, solutions and upgrade projects
• Assess and integrate new carbonation and carbon capture solutions into cement process
• Contribute R&D projects e.g. within decarbonation
• Servicing plants under commissioning and operation, e.g. operational performance improvements and/or troubleshooting
• Participating in negotiations with customers and give advice on chemical and process control issues
• Evaluating the performance and suggesting optimisations
• Travelling to sites or sales negotiations up to 30-60 days per year

What you bring

• A strong educational background within chemical engineering
• Solid knowledge of unit operations, control engineering and chemical process engineering
• Knowledge about and experience with clay chemistry and clay calcination is an advantage
• Knowledge about and experience with CCUS is an advantage
• Knowledge about and experience with mineral carbonation processes is an advantage
• Strong IT skills and experience in data analysis, modelling and programming
• A structured working approach, skills and ability to work with the team to get things done and deliver on time
• Demonstrated ability and motivation to gain new skills and willingness to share your competencies within FLSmidth Cement
• A solution-oriented approach to tasks, advocating for technology best practices – thrives on understanding and solving complex issues
• Advanced communication skills, able to fluently navigate in English both written and spoken both with colleagues and customers. Other languages such as Arabic, French or Spanish would be a distinct benefit
