The position
As a Data Engineer with a focus on software and cloud development, your primary responsibility will be to design and build innovative software solutions leveraging cloud capabilities and automated CI/CD pipelines. You will have the opportunity to explore new technologies and tools and play a key role in shaping the future alongside a diverse and dynamic team. The position offers significant flexibility for experimentation and a chance to have a direct impact on the future of scientific research laboratories in the CMC Drug Product & Analytical Development area.
You will be part of a young, dynamic team where we have fun and in your day-to-day work, you will work closely with not only your team members, but also with chemists, laboratory technicians, specialists etc. in the line of business. These are your customers, and you will have the privilege of developing software solutions that will make them more efficient in their day-to-day work going from paper to paperless laboratories.
Qualifications
You hold an academic degree in computer science, software engineering, information technology or other relevant field with relevant work experience in data engineering. We expect you to bring strong technical skills in back-end development. You have worked in a team before and appreciate delivering projects together with your colleagues, not been the only contributor to a code base and having delivered one or more products to production.
Ideally you also have:
- Experience with one of the big cloud providers (AWS, Azure or GCP)
- Proficiency in AWS services like Lambda, S3 and CloudWatch (or similar services in one of the other cloud providers)
- Data modelling and schema design for relational databases
- Expertise in ETL processes, orchestration, and data warehousing concepts
- Python
- Experience with API lead connectivity e.g. using MuleSoft
- Experience with data storage solutions, such as delta lake and parquet
- Experience with Databricks
- Understanding of security and data governance best practices
- Git
- Proficiency in CI/CD tools such as ADO pipelines or GitHub actions

About the department
As part of the Novo Nordisk PSQIT organisation, Chemistry, Manufacturing and Control (CMC) Development & Scaling makes a real difference for patients with chronic diseases across the world. We develop, manufacture, and distribute drug candidates for clinical trials and have a strong culture with a “can do” mindset.
Drug Product & Analytical Development (DP & Ana Dev) is part of Novo Nordisk’s CMC Development and Scaling family and acts as a link between the research unit and the production, spanning from early development to phase 3 clinical trials and registration. Our ambition is to improve our patients lives by developing the world finest drug substance and injectable drug products.
The position is anchored in the team Data Applications & Support, where we focus on bridging life science research and computer science by developing, implementing and operating data and software applications. We support the line of business by enable them to work efficiently through automation of repetitive tasks and accompany the business in changing for the future through data empowerment and digitalization. The team consists of highly skilled subject matter experts with different backgrounds, ranging from formulation specialists and data scientists to software developers and data engineers.
