Software Developer – Payload Control for Satellites
GomSpace A/S
Are you ready to develop software that flies? Do you want to write code that controls real payloads in orbit – from high-performance cameras to advanced onboard data handling systems?
We’re looking for a Software Developer to join our space engineering team and help develop the next generation of payload control software for satellites. Your work will directly impact how data is captured, managed, and transmitted in orbit — supporting commercial missions with operational demands.
At GomSpace, we build spacecraft that deliver. Our payload systems are key to unlocking mission success — whether they’re observing Earth, enabling communication, or collecting scientific data. You’ll be working on software that operates under extreme conditions, running on embedded platforms that require high reliability and performance.
Your Role and Responsibilities
As part of our payload software team, you’ll design, implement, and test embedded software that runs directly on satellite platforms. You’ll work close to hardware such as cameras, sensors, and control units — ensuring everything from data acquisition to fault detection works seamlessly in space.
Your tasks will include:
- Developing software in C++ and Python for payload control and data handling
- Interfacing with payload electronics and integrating commercial components into space-grade systems
- Collaborating with electronics, systems, and mission teams to ensure end-to-end functionality
- Supporting validation and testing — both on the ground and in preparation for in-orbit deployment
What We’re Looking For
At GomSpace, it’s not just your technical skills that matter — your character is just as important. We value individuals who bring a positive, proactive attitude, and can build trust across cultures.
You’re a technically solid developer who takes pride in robust, well-structured code — especially when that code has to work the first time. You understand the constraints of working with remote and resource-limited systems, and you enjoy working close to hardware.
Ideally, you:
- Have experience with embedded or systems programming using C++ and Python
- Have worked with embedded systems, preferably in high-reliability environments
- Have experience with camera interfaces, image acquisition, or sensor-driven software
- Understand the unique challenges of space-based or other constrained embedded platforms
- Thrive in multidisciplinary teams and appreciate working with engineers across hardware and software
Why Join Us?
- Build software that runs in orbit and controls real mission payloads
- Work with high-end camera and sensor systems in commercial satellite missions
- Join a collaborative team of engineers passionate about building dependable spacecraft
- Be part of a company where engineering quality, clarity, and purpose drive every decision
If you're ready to code for orbit — and contribute to the future of commercial space payloads — we’d love to hear from you.
