Software Platform Architect, Lystrup
Terma A/S
Would you like to shape the future of software platforms and drive innovation that truly makes a difference?
We are facing an exciting future with considerable growth, as we deliver advanced technologies and mission-critical solutions for the defense and aerospace industry. Our systems provide security for people on land, at sea and in the air. Therefore, we are looking to welcome one or two Platform Architects in software to become part of this journey and contribute to our overall purpose – securing people through advanced technology.
Your role in our team
As a Platform Architect, you will play a key technical role in one of our most important software platforms. You will help define and evolve the foundation on which our systems are built – balancing legacy maturity with modernization and long-term maintainability.
This role sits within our Multi-Domain Systems (MDS), split between Lystrup and Søborg. The architect role is based in Lystrup and operates across teams, supporting multiple product lines with shared platform needs.
How you will make a meaningful contribution
You will help maintain and modernize a long-lived safety-critical software platform, by making architectural decisions that support robustness, traceability, and compliance with defense standards, while also laying the groundwork for future evolution.
The codebase includes both mature and newer, low-level components and high-level functionality, and spans both embedded C/C++ solutions and Windows-based systems using .NET/C#. We are looking for architects with strength in one of these domains – and a willingness to collaborate across both.
You will take ownership of the platform on behalf of our software engineers and projects. You will help decide what capabilities belong in the shared platform and what should stay within specific solutions. You will manage some of the maintenance budget and steer the technical direction with close support from experienced engineers, testers, and systems specialists. And yes: sometimes you will need to approve (or reject) technical debt.
Bring your world-class expertise into play
You are fluent in English both in writing and verbal at a professional level. Danish is an advantage but not a requirement. Moreover, we are looking for a new colleague who has:
- Solid experience with software architecture – formally or in practice
- Embedded development knowledge (C/C++) or experience in Windows-based software platforms (.NET/C#). Strength in one domain is sufficient, paired with eagerness to collaborate across both
- Familiarity with and dedication to grow CI/CD ambitions – helping drive automation, sustainable delivery, and architectural testability
- Comfort contributing to documentation – including platform guidelines, decision records, and architectural overviews
- Interest in influencing our technology strategy and helping evolve the tool stack-used across teams
Bonus if you have worked with model-based design or defense-related standards – but none of these are mandatory requirements.
As a person, you are structured in your way of thinking, valuing interfaces, modularization, testability, and maintainability as integral parts of your work. You have strong collaborative skills and communicate effectively across disciplines. You respect the domain knowledge within our engineering teams, building on what already exists before setting a new direction. You navigate trade-offs and complexity with pragmatism. Driven by curiosity and genuine care, you are passionate about the product, the people, and the problem space. You set a clear direction, follow through consistently, and have a sincere desire to help others grow while continuously learning yourself.
And yes – we like our (platform) architects to be Jedi Masters!
We believe in mentoring and growing the next generation of technical leaders. That is why we have launched our own internal “Jedi initiative”, where all architects work closely with selected engineers in a structured talent program. So, if you see yourself as a Jedi Master-in-the-making (or already one with the Force), there is a Jedi Knight or two waiting to work with you.
