Design Review & Risk Evaluation Engineer

National Oilwell Varco Denmark I/S

Design Review & Risk Evaluation Engineer

About the Role
Draw the line between concept and capability—own the go/no-go on risk, protect throughput, quality, and schedule, and turn factory constraints into competitive advantage.

You’re the manufacturing voice at the design table—the person who decides whether a flexible pipe design will glide through our plants or grind them to a halt. You’ll review and optimize designs before they’re approved for Sales or NPD and added to the Production Master Plan, aligning real‑world factory constraints with functional requirements.
You’ll connect Sales, Engineering, and Operations, and turn daily shop‑floor insight into clear factory strategies that boost throughput, quality, and schedule certainty—locally and across our global Flexibles footprint.

About the Company
At NOV, we deliver safe, high-quality, technology-driven equipment, services, and support that are essential to the global energy industry. Our mission is simple: we power the industry that powers the world.

At NOV’s business unit Subsea Production Systems (SPS) we empower the energy sector with passion, expertise, and forward-thinking solutions. We develop reliable and efficient subsea energy production products that enhance our customers’ energy portfolios. With strong roots in the offshore oil and gas industry, we are also at the forefront of future technologies such as water treatment, ammonia storage, carbon injection, and wind energy—helping to reduce CO₂ emissions and drive the energy transition.

SPS is headquartered in Brøndby, Denmark, with production sites in Kalundborg (DK), Porto do Acu (Br), Glenrothes (UK) and offices in Stavanger and Oslo (No), Rio de Janeiro ( Br), and Houston (US). Globally, our team includes around 1,500 dedicated professionals, contributing to NOV’s workforce of approximately 34,000 employees.

What We Offer

  • Professional Growth – Ongoing learning opportunities, training, and support for your career development.
  • Competitive Compensation – Attractive salary package with medical and health insurance.
  • Innovation-Driven Culture – Join a team that values bold ideas, practical solutions, and continuous improvement

Key Responsibilities

  • Make manufacturability the default: Tune new flexible-pipe designs to the existing portfolio, tooling, and processes to maximize plant efficiency.
  • Own the risk go/no-go: Block designs that rely on non-validated contingencies; build in proven fallbacks to avoid delays.
  • Gatekeep for approval: Review and recommend designs before they enter the Production Master Plan, ensuring fit with the planned factory slate.
  • Shape the future portfolio: Track market and technology trends; propose NPD pipelines and CAPEX moves to keep Flexibles competitive and sustainable.
  • Stay on top of execution risks: Monitor known and emerging risks and adjust mitigations early—no surprises.
  • Build the data backbone: Capture, structure, and store decision data to enable automated risk evaluations over time.
  • Close the loop with Operations: Validate decisions against live constraints and feed lessons learned back into design.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Degree: Bachelor’s or Master’s in Engineering (Mechanical, Materials, Manufacturing, or similar).
  • Experience: 5+ years with similar products/industries (design and/or manufacturing). We’re also open to training strong candidates.
  • Approach: Structured, quality-driven, with strong engineering judgment.
  • Domain interest: Genuine curiosity for the design–manufacturing “handshake” in flexible pipes.
  • Language: Fluent English; Danish or Portuguese is a plus.
  • Mindset: Drive to quickly close competency gaps and continuously raise the bar.
