Research and teaching are an integrated part of the daily work. Our specialized unit includes 12 dedicated inpatient beds and is responsible for approximately 3,500 outpatient consultations annually, reflecting the high volume and complexity of cases referred from across Denmark. The current team includes five respiratory medicine specialists.

Each day involves a mix of outpatient clinics, inpatient consultations, bronchoscopic procedures and participation in multidisciplinary team meetings, where we collaborate closely with thoracic surgeons, radiologists and transplant coordinators to ensure individualized, high-quality care.

In the outpatient setting, we evaluate new referrals from across Denmark, conduct diagnostic assessments and initiate or adjust treatments based on clinical needs. For transplant patients, we are involved in pre-transplant evaluations, monitoring of waitlisted patients, and intensive post-transplant follow-up, managing immunosuppression, infection risk, and potential complications such as rejection or chronic lung allograft dysfunction.
