Your key responsibilities will be:

  • Support data management, processing, curation, and analysis for biosustainability research projects.
  • Perform data crunching and exploratory analyses across genomic, transcriptomic, proteomic, metabolomic, and other multi-omics datasets.
  • Some experience running comparative genomics, metagenomics, and next-generation sequencing (NGS) analyses.
  • Implement and maintain data workflows, preferably using Nextflow.
  • Collaborate with platform data scientists and researchers to develop reproducible analytical pipelines.
  • Assist in applying machine learning and AI methods to multi-omics datasets.
  • Use version control (comfortable on the usage of Git/GitHub) for collaborative development and code maintenance.
  • Eager to document processes, communicate analytical results, and contribute to best practices in data science and management.

Our expectations of you
Required skills and qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Data Science, or a related field.

  • Hands-on experience with Git and GitHub for collaborative development.
  • Familiarity with workflow management languages (e.g., Nextflow).
  • Experience working with metagenomics, and NGS datasets.
  • Basic understanding of machine learning approaches and AI-driven analyses in a biological context.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with cloud computing environments (preferably Azure).
  • Prior exposure to multi-omics integration or systems biology approaches.
  • Interest in biosustainability, green transition research or related fields.

Soft Skills:

  • Strong communicator
  • Open-minded and collaborative
  • Flexible and solution-oriented
  • Committed, proactive, and eager to learn

What we offer in return
We offer an interesting and challenging job in an international atmosphere with the focus on research support, tooling development, teaching, innovation.

Data Science platform
The DSP team aims to make data science more accessible and inclusive at DTU Biosustain and across the DTU Community. The platform follows a data-centric approach that focuses on data infrastructure, processes, and outputs as ongoing, evolving products rather than one-time projects. Each data product is designed as a multidisciplinary collaboration involving the entire data lifecycle and pursuing standardization and automation, and with data usage in mind.

The DSP is based on four pillars:

  • Support: focusing on providing researchers and core functions at the Centre with assistance in areas such as statistics, programming, analytics, and machine learning.
  • Education: developing a training program focused on data science literacy, guiding researchers through different levels to become data-aware and proficient in data science.
  • Innovation: introducing researchers to new computational biology methods and technologies and modernize the data science landscape at the Centre.
  • Tool development: building standard tools that can be shared across the Centre and open sourced for the entire community to use.

The Novo Nordisk Foundation Bioresearch Institute for the Green Transision (BRIGHT)
Recent progress in our ability to read and write genomic code, combined with advances in automation, analytics and data science, has fundamentally changed the scope and ambition of harnessing the potential of biological systems. Big data approaches and analysis of biological systems are key research instruments at the Center. DTU Biosustain utilizes these advances for microbial cell factory design to foster sustainable lifestyles in relation to three application areas: Sustainable Chemicals, Natural Products, and Microbial Foods.

Technology for people
DTU develops technology for people. With our international elite research and study programmes, we are helping to create a better world and to solve the global challenges formulated in the UN’s 17 Sustainable Development Goals. Hans Christian Ørsted founded DTU in 1829 with a clear mission to develop and create value using science and engineering to benefit society. That mission lives on today. DTU has 13,500 students and 6,000 employees. We work in an international atmosphere and have an inclusive, evolving, and informal working environment. DTU has campuses in all parts of Denmark and in Greenland, and we collaborate with the best universities around the world.
