Welcome to Oils and Fats Application Research
Oils and Fats Application Research is a global and fast-growing business area in Novonesis, with research groups in Denmark and the US. You will join an international team of around 16 scientists and research associates with diverse backgrounds, collaborating closely with Novonesis R&D, technical service and commercial teams.
We are responsible for the development, scale-up, and implementation of new solutions in the field of vegetable oils and fats, including biodiesel, renewable diesel, degumming, interesterification, and a range of solutions in both the food and oleochemical space. We also support our bioprocessing-heavy venture programs, including Carbon Capture and Plastic Recycling.
In this role you’ll make an impact by:
As a Research Associate, your main responsibility is to support and advance laboratory research within oils, fats, and bioprocessing by planning, executing, and documenting experiments in collaboration with scientists. You will play a key role in maintaining high standards of quality and safety in the lab.
Key responsibilities:
- Plan and execute experiments, analyze and report results
- Maintain accurate laboratory notebooks and databases, ensuring thorough documentation
- Identify and improve repetitive lab routines, leveraging automation and digitalization where possible
- Ensure a well-organized, tidy, and safe laboratory environment, coordinate with service technicians as needed
- Contribute actively to quality compliance and safety initiatives
- Manage the ordering, receiving, labeling, and storage of samples and chemicals
To succeed you must hold:
- A degree from a Danish laboratory education program (e.g. KP, Cphbusiness, Zealand, or EAAA or similar)
- Preferably, several years of hands-on laboratory experience in the biotech industry
- Experience with planning and executing laboratory trials
- Strong documentation skills and familiarity with electronic lab notebooks (e.g., Benchling)
- Flair for and an interest in data analysis and automation using different software
- Ability to work independently and as part of a diverse, international team
We are seeking a proactive and collaborative individual with a strong commitment to maintaining a safe and organized laboratory environment. The ideal candidate demonstrates excellent communication skills in Danish and/or English, thrives in a diverse, international team, and is passionate about improving laboratory processes and routines through automation, and continuous learning. Experience with documentation and electronic lab notebooks is highly valued.
