Vice President Product Management

Tempur Sealy

My career at Tempur Sealy started as Group Product Manager (2007) responsible for Product Management for the International division of the Company, serving 80 international markets outside USA and Canada. Product Management has the responsibility to drive product strategy definition, define a long term product roadmap, execute product projects and maintain existing product range and phase out products. After one year, I also became responsible for the marketing function (2008-2012), expanding my area of responsibility significantly. Parallel I was appointed team leader for a Global Centre of Excellence for Product Portfolio Management (2009-2010). In 2010 I was promoted to Director and in 2012 to Vice President, continuing the responsibility for Brand and Product Marketing and Product Management. In 2013 after the company merger with Sealy requiring increased product efforts, my responsibility focused on product Management of the increased brand portfolio and Brand and Product Marketing was moved to London.

Below an outline of my responsibilities and achievements for my recent positions as VP:
Part of the International Executive Committee.
Part of the management team for Dan-Foam/Tempur manufacturing location in Aarup. In an interim period after appointment of a new CEO at Dan-Foam I served as chairman of the leadership team.
Team leader of a team of 3-4 Product Managers. Manging several maternity leaves, restructures, stress issues etc.
Architect in the redefinition of the Tempur product line up with a new aesthetical design and new functional benefits designed to increase average selling prices and expand the range significantly to allow distribution expansion. Successfully launched in 2016.
Architect in defining a product portfolio for a Tempur Sub brand “Micro-Tech by Tempur” to extend appeal. Successfully launched in 2016.
Initiator of the largest competitive intelligence initiative in the history of Tempur. Identifying, acquiring and testing several key competitive models from several key markets to identify new opportunities for communication about product superiority and proactively identify potential future threats.
Responsible for the planning, definition and introduction of the first non- all foam Tempur branded mattress in the history of Tempur.
Responsible for managing the definition of a Sealy and Sterns & Foster product portfolio for International markets after the acquisition of Sealy in 2013, along with continuous responsibility for the Tempur branded products. Very successfully presented to key retail customers at a major launch event in Spain.
Responsible for several innovative and ground breaking new product introductions such as washable memory foam, mattresses with proven climate functionality, a revolutionary new bedding system for the Nordic markets and many others.

Process Manager

My career at Electrolux started in a Primary Development Centre (1994), where I had many roles among others as a team member and a team leader in primary development projects as well as being the process manager developing and supervising the compliance to the development process. Parallel I was also the “Quality Manager” (1996-2002) responsible for the quality assurance system, overseeing development, implementation and follow up of the system on a daily basis and managing all contact to certifying bodies. When the Primary Development Centre was moved to headquarters in Stockholm in 1998 I became Process Manager for the European Product Development organisation (1998-2004), now overseeing implementation of and adherence to the development process in all Product Development locations in Europe (11 at the time). During the years 2002-2004, I had several parallel project assignments as team member in a user manual alignment project, Project Leader in a Corporate project to develop a new Consumer Insight based Product Development Model and R&D Manager for the Product Development function in Denmark. In 2004, I expanded my area of influence from European to Global with the introduction of the Global Product Councils, where I continued leveraging my expertise and skills centred on product strategy and product development but also ventured into new territories related to Mergers and Acquisition, Manufacturing footprint, Complexity reduction etc.
