    Student Design Engineer

    Decona

    I was hired as a student designer at Decona whilst I was working on my Master Thesis. My main role was to design a park table to suit their range of products. I worked extensively on SolidWorks to produce various different designs. I also brought in elements of behavioural design to the table, taking into consideration the social factors of where the table would be implemented.

    Design Engineer Intern

    Gripple & Loadhog

    During my time at Gripple and Loadhog my main project was a product development project, where a zinc actuator was to be redesigned to be made out of plastic. This project involved a lot of testing, materials research, design work (CAD), prototyping (3D print), and much more. The project culminated in a prototype tool being commissioned so that actual parts could be produced and tested.

    Other projects I completed were the product testing of plastic boxes at various temperatures, the design of a dolly for a large box, and to produce various technical drawings for components.

    My time at Gripple and Loadhog taught me the most about how all aspects of engineering have to come together and work in harmony for a company to be successful. For this to happen, communication between departments is of high importance. I thoroughly enjoyed my time at Gripple and Loadhog and was praised for the work I had done, which gave me confidence in my own abilities as a young engineer.
