As a person, I am outgoing and thrive in close cooperation with colleagues and clients in various projects. In my spare time I lead a fundraising bike team consisting of 50 people, where we raise money for children with cancer and other critical illnesses by cycling from Copenhagen to Paris.

PhD Student in Digital Pathology

Gentofte Hospital, Hjertemedicinsk Forskning 1

In my PhD project I cooperated with both private companies (Private public partnership) Hospital IT departments and pathology departments (public health care) regarding development, validation and implementation of digital pathology as a diagnostic tool in a routine pathology setting. Specifically I introduced new techniques to standardize and improve diagnostic accuracy, reproducibility and safety for cancer patients.

My responsibilities included:
• Introducing and developing a new digital workflow in the routine pathology.
• Implementation and validation of digital workstations for the pathologist with 3D connection mouse, new high resolution screens, and digital whole slide imaging (WSI).
• Digital sharing of patient samples (WSI) between hospitals for second opinion (digital consultations).
• Development, validation and implementation of quantitative image analysis, as a digital tool in the routine diagnostic, of cancer patients.
• Introducing cooperation between hospital departments and private companies where I functioned as link between persons of different professions (Pathologists, technicians, technical specialists, CEOs, sales managers, etc.)

Research Biochemist

Gentofte Hospital, Hjertemedicinsk Forskning 1

Researcher in genetic mechanism in cancer and immunology at Rigshospitalet´s Molecular-pathology laboratory .

The Molecular-Pathology Laboratory is a part of Rigshospitalet´s pathological department and cooperate with other research laboratories in the development of diagnostic and therapeutic markers based on gene-sequencing, PCR and FISH primarily concerning oncology.

Responsibilities:
Implementation of diagnostic, molecular cytogenetic-based techniques, such as Fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH), Brightfield in situ hybridization (CISH, SISH), and implementation of the tissue micro array (TMA) technique into the departments routinely assessment of immunohistochemistry (IHC) and FISH samples.
Digital pathology incl. software/data processing, development
Interpretation of mutation analysis (therapeutic target genes: ALK, BRAF, EGFR, IDH1, IDH2, KRAS, c-KIT, JAK2, PI3KCA and PDGFRA.)

Results:
Implementation of TMA technology into the lab by developing a novel technique complementary to IHC and FISH resulting in significant yearly budget savings.
Introducing digital pathology which is now widely used in the department for teaching, research and diagnostics.
Collaborating with other departments and research groups leading to publications.
