BetaDwarf is looking for a passionate Mid-Level QA tester to join us in bringing our biggest game “Project F4E” over the finish line. The game is a hardcore fantasy ARPG with an exciting mix of MOBA and Loot & Extract mechanics.

The ideal candidate has strong communication skills, excels when working in a team and understands the QA and game development process. You will aid in ensuring on-time delivery of Project F4E within the given priorities and quality standards.

JOB DESCRIPTION

As a Mid-Level QA Tester, you will be responsible for ensuring the quality of our games by identifying, reporting, and tracking bugs and glitches that may affect the overall gaming experience.

You are expected to have a deep understanding of the gaming environment and the technical aspects involved in developing games, so previous experience within the gaming industry is required, but don’t be shy to apply and explain how your skills and knowledge from another industry is transferable to gaming too!

QA testers at BetaDwarf work embedded in our project's content and feature teams collaboratively throughout the development process. Our analysts leverage whitebox and blackbox testing methodologies to evaluate our games to catch defects as early as possible.This demands that our analysts are excellent communicators, collaboratively minded, and constantly develop their abilities to use shared tools as well as analytical and problem-solving skills.

You will report to our QA Lead and work closely with the development team and production to deliver the highest quality standards we aim to achieve.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Conduct thorough testing of our games on current platforms.
• Validation of all game components, providing confidence to the team on their quality.
• Developing test plans and documentation to track testing coverage and development progress.
• Provide feedback on game quality in visuals, design, balance, and implementation.
• Author, estimate, and execute test cases for manual testing.
• Black, whitebox, regression and multi-platform testing.
• Collaborating directly with the team to identify, troubleshoot, and resolve issues.

REQUIREMENTS

• 2+ years working as a QA Tester in the game industry.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written English.
• Experience with bug tracking and test case management tools (Jira, Testrail, etc).
• You are familiar with and can dig valuable information from crash dumps and call stacks.
• You can communicate clearly and effectively with a cross functional team of differing disciplines.
• Solution-oriented attitude: eager to find solutions to often complex problems.
• Analytical, and have an exceptional eye for detail.
• The desire to learn new things outside your comfort zone and the drive to jump in head first!
• Excellent at prioritization and handling multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Agile mindset that can handle task priorities shifting because of current demands.
• Thrive on receiving and giving critical feedback and input.
• An intrinsic passion for playing and making games.

PLUSES

• Technical experience - programming and software/hardware affinity.
• Experience with automated testing tools and scripting languages.
• Experience working with Unity for games development.
• Experience with Xbox, Android or Steam and compatibility testing.
• Experience with first-party certification testing for games (Xbox Requirements, etc).
• Understanding of networked multiplayer game testing.
• Knowledge of performance testing and optimisation techniques.
